The moon rotates fully around the earth every 29-30 days. Each day the moon may stay the same or it will get a little bigger or smaller. Sometimes strange and awesome things happen to the moon. For example, last Friday there was a Harvest Moon. A Harvest Moon is when the moon gets really close to the earth and turns orange. The reason it is called a Harvest Moon is because this would happen around the time the farmers would harvest their crops for the fall. The phases of the moon cycle, are as follows:
- New Moon
- Waxing Crescent Moon
- First Quarter/ Half Moon
- Waxing Gibbous Moon
- Full Moon
- Waning Gibbous Moon
- Last Quarter/ Half Moon
- Waning Crescent Moon
